WattShed Translate

The program speaks the applicant's language.

Translate puts a program's intake surfaces into the applicant's language: the application form, the guided photo checklist, and the status updates a resident actually reads. Equity-focused rebate programs routinely lose eligible households at the language barrier, and a translated surface is the difference between an application that finishes and one that stalls at the first field. Reviewer-facing content stays in the reviewer's language, with the applicant's original text preserved alongside any translation.

What it does.

  • Translates the resident-facing intake flow: forms, photo checklists, guidance, and status updates.

  • Preserves the applicant's original text alongside translations, so nothing is reviewed through a translation alone.

  • Keeps program rules identical across languages. Translation changes the words, never the thresholds.

  • Covers the languages a program's service area actually speaks, chosen with the funder per program.

  • Runs inside the intake flow it translates. There is no separate app for the applicant to find.

Who it is for.

Utilities and public program administrators

Meet language-access obligations on the same surface that runs the program, not a PDF appendix.

Equity-focused funders

Stop losing eligible households at the first English-only field.

Community organizations

Help residents apply in the language the household actually uses.

How it works.

01

Pick the languages

The program chooses its languages from its own service area, per program.

02

Translate the surfaces

Forms, checklists, guidance, and status updates carry the applicant's language end to end.

03

Review with originals

Reviewers see the applicant's original text with translations alongside, never a translation alone.

What it does, and what it deliberately does not.
