WattShed Engine

The methodology engine behind every WattShed figure.

Engine is the calculation core the rest of the platform is built on. It prices with deemed savings on the Texas TRM v13 today and with physics-based estimates, degree-day and modified-bin models, everywhere else, with additional TRM packs arriving as programs launch. The same engine that prices a hypothetical design also prices the offer on a real qualified home, so a funder never reconciles two sets of numbers.

What it does.

  • Prices measures with deemed-savings tables where a technical reference manual applies, and physics-based models everywhere else.

  • Produces per-measure annual savings, estimated peak reduction, and incentive amounts from home characteristics.

  • Runs deterministically: the same inputs always produce the same figures, and no model or reviewer can reprice a measure.

  • Carries its assumptions openly. Baseline notes, methodology packs, and rate assumptions are part of the output, not a footnote.

  • Backs every surface of the platform, so designer figures, offers, and reports never disagree.

Who it is for.

Funders running programs elsewhere

Use one methodology to price offers consistently across program tools you already operate.

Utilities and public program administrators

Replace spreadsheet pricing with a deterministic engine whose output can be handed to an auditor or a commission.

Platform partners

Integrate methodology pricing into an intake or contractor tool by arrangement.

How it works.

01

Describe the home

Characteristics in: size, vintage, insulation levels, equipment, and the program's area.

02

Apply the methodology

The engine selects the applicable pack: deemed tables where a TRM covers the measure, degree-day or modified-bin physics where it does not.

03

Return traceable figures

Savings, peak reduction, and incentive amounts, each traceable to an input, an algorithm, and a date.

What it does, and what it deliberately does not.

Engine does

Calculates methodology-based estimates deterministically

Engine does not

Does not guarantee realized bill savings

Engine does

Publishes its methodology and assumptions

Engine does not

Does not publish unsupported impact figures

Availability.

Runs today inside every WattShed surface, including the public designer. Standalone integrations are arranged with WattShed directly.
